Niwȋķȏwin Métis Family Service offers a variety of core programs and supportive services which aim to address diverse needs and challenges while recognizing existing strengths. Program facilitators are fully trained in respective subject areas and encourage collaborative learning.

Elders Connect
A check in program where you are asked if you would like to participate in Elder programs and activities to reduce social isolation during COVID-19. This could be by phone call or virtual Zoom kitchen parties. Through the survey you can also order reusable fabric masks for yourself for free, and also help us plan for vaccination roll out. Temporary Rental Assistance
A program which allows our Métis Citizens additional access to MNBC’s Temporary Rental Assistance (4 months at $475/month) for those in need over the age of 60 years.
Emergency Assistance Funding
A program to offer low barrier Emergency Assistance Funding to our low-income Métis Seniors (regardless of Citizenship) that are 60 years of age or more, $325 for a single person with an income of $28,150 or less, or $475 for couples with an income of $45,720 or less. If eligible, please complete the attached and submit to elders@mnbc.ca (funding is limited).
Family Support Advocacy
Family support advocacy is available on continuous basis. Those accessing family support and advocacy services will be assessed for suitability for entrance into core programs. Our Family Support Worker will conduct needs-based assessments and develop collaborative plans to address needs/issues.
Early Years
Culture Kits handed out Monthly. We hope everyone enjoyed last month’s Birds are chirping, painted birdhouse and the Raven Legend. Stay tuned for this month’s Kit Mother’s Day and Caribou Hair tufting. As part of our Early Years Program we will be focusing on Children age 0-8 years old.
