Position:   Practice Manager for Métis Family Services

Job Summary:

The Métis Family Services Practice Manager will initially be responsible for managing the implementation of C4 delegation at  Family Services Society.  Once C4 delegation is achieved, this position will be responsible for overall management of the team and services provided.

Reports to:

Niwȋķȏwin Métis Family Services, Executive Director

Specific Responsibilities:

 Resources

  • Provide supervision of resource program staff who will recruit and complete Structured Analysis Family Evaluation (S.A.F.E.) home studies, assessments of potential foster homes and group homes and supervision of resource program staff.
  • Coordinate placement contracts for caregiver’s contracts and ensure payments are processed accordingly for caregivers and care providers.
  • Participate in Integrated Case Management meetings on a regular basis to discuss and report on specific placement issues and general outstanding resource issues.
  • Ensure contracts for caregiver/care providers are completed, monitored as per internal policy and applicable resource policies.
  • Ensure that resource services are offered in accordance with AOPSI and MCFD resource worker policies.
  • Participate in protocols re: allegations of child abuse and neglect in child welfare resources according to regional and provincial protocols.
  • Exercise spending authority as appropriate i.e. approving homemakers for foster homes.

General Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the delivery of voluntary family services, resources and guardianship duties under C4 delegation and other tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain case records in the appropriate information management systems.
  • Exercise spending authority as approved by the Executive Director.
  • Prepare reports, produce and deliver presentations.
  • Maintain a current awareness of developments in the field of child and family services.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Cultural sensitivity and knowledge of Metis history and values.
  • Knowledge of resources available to clients and knowledge of the referral process.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to work with voluntary clients.
  • Work well as part of a team and independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, Excel) and an ability to learn and become component using information management systems.
  • Experience implementing and managing projects.
  • Ability to implement and evaluate creative solutions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the provincial legislation (CFCSA), federal act, AOPSI standards, young offenders act, adoption act.
  • Ability to develop and nurture an environment where continuous quality improvement principals are imbedded into daily practice, specifically Signs of Wellbeing / Signs of Safety.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work or Child and Youth Care, or a degree in a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 5 years related work experience in a complex organization that delivers services to children and families.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role managing the delivery of child and family services in a C4 agency or higher delegation capacity.
  • Currently possess a C4 delegation under the CFCSA through MCFD.

Preference may be given to applicants who have the following:

  • A Master’s Degree in Social Work or Bachelor’s Degree of Social Work or Degree in a related field and 3 years child welfare experience or experience working with children and families in a child welfare setting.
  • Proof of current C-4 delegation under the Director, or has been delegated within the past two years (guardianship services).
  • Three (3) years or more management experience in the delivery of delegated resource and guardianship services.
  • Three (3) years or more experience in a supervisory/management position with strong leadership abilities.

Required:

  • Successful completion of security screening requirements of the BC Public Service; which includes a Criminal Record Check and a Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA) check.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid BC class 5 Driver’s license.

Remuneration:

Level/Salary Range: $79,530.00 to $90,884.16 / year. Benefits following successful completion of probationary period.
