Early Childhood Educator Program Coordinator

Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time PositionHours Per Week: 35 hoursWorking Hours/Days: Monday to Friday. 8:30 am. to 4:30 pm. With occasional evening twice per month.Job Summary: Niwîķôwin Metis Family Services Society is a non-profit society that was founded in 2003 under the name of Kikino, as a need was recognized that Metis children and families living in Prince George region did not have direct access to culturally specific advocacy and support services, exclusive to their Metis heritage. Our programs are designed to nourish the dignity and integrity of the family, to build community spirit and to affirm our Metis cultural identity. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position will create and implement early years programing for Metis children birth to 8 years of age. Engaging Metis families in cultural, developmentally appropriate programing that supports connections and early years learning. Supporting Metis children and their families in connecting with community and Metis culture. Our goal is to ensure Metis children within the community of Prince George have opportunity to engage in early years programming that highlights their Metis culture. Working closely with staff, elders and community resources the ECE Coordinator will create, develop and implement age appropriate cultural programing.Qualifications:• Post Basic ECE/related field. Degree/Diploma/Certification in ECE or related field.• First Aid and CPR certification.• Current ECE License to Practise.• Knowledge/experience working with Metis families.• Valid driver’s license and transportation.Additional Qualification/ Experience:• 3 yrs. recent experience.o 2 yrs. in a supervisory role.• Knowledge and experience in child development, infant toddlers and special needs programing.• Experience working with community agencies, government offices, Metis and Indigenous community.• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication.• Experience in data collection, record keeping and documentation.• Advocacy and diplomatic skills.• Experience with budgets and bookkeeping.• Proficiency in computer software programs, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.• Familiarity working with Indigenous families/community.Salary & Benefits: Wage range based on qualification and experience:• $23.42 to $25.65.• Benefit package after 3 months’ probationary period.Key Duties and Responsibilities: Available on request.In accordance with Section 16 of the Federal Human Rights Act, preference may be given to persons of Aboriginal ancestry.
